Providing the first Group 1 win for star young rider Zac Lloyd would give trainer Bjorn Baker two more reasons to celebrate this week.

Baker won’t be on course to watch Lloyd partner his filly Stefi Magnetica in the $3 million G1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) in Brisbane on Saturday as he will be in the UK for a special wedding before he takes in a day of the Royal Ascot carnival.

But no matter the time of night in the UK, Baker’s attention will be on Lloyd and his filly this Saturday as the lightweight pair, with just 49.5kg, attempt to outgun the older horses in the Stradbroke.

Lloyd, 20, has won 302 races in his short time in the saddle but is yet to score in 16 rides at the elite level and Baker said he would love to be part of the breakthrough when it does happen…
