After a setback, Prime Candidate, a half-brother to previous stable favourite Coolring, had been off the racing scene for over a year. In late July, he resumed racing with a nice third placing, beaten only a length & he was always going to take plenty of improvement from the run.

On Saturday, the gelding proved too good for his rivals. Settling off the leader, Prime Candidate traveled kindly throughout the running. Asked to quicken on the turn for home, he hit the front on straightening & fought off a late challenge to win by nearly a length.

A super ride as always by jockey Tim Clark & a big well done to connections. Hopefully there are many more wins in store for this son of Denman.
