BJORN BAKER CAN’T FAULT GOODFELLA HEADING INTO WINTER STAKES

Goodfella begins a preparation aimed at a fourth Magic Millions carnival when he resumes in the Listed $150,000 Winter Stakes at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.

Trainer Bjorn Baker is enthusiastic about long-term plans for Goodfella given how well the rising five-year-old entire has trialled in recent weeks.

In particular, Goodfella’s runaway win over Winter Stakes rival Stampede in a Randwick 1200m barrier trial two weeks ago indicated he has returned in very good order.

“His trials have been better than ever, he looks great, I can’t fault him,’’ Baker said.

“He can be a little hard to catch but he is a talented horse on his day. I think he is ready to run a bold race first-up.’’
